Children of Men

Interesting trailer here with some intriguing images and some potential weepy cheese as well.

I notice it is an adaptation of a PD James novel who is know really for being a mystery writer rather than a sci-fi one.

""Children of Men" envisages a world one generation from now that has fallen into anarchy on the heels of an infertility defect in the population. The world's youngest citizen has just died at 18, and humankind is facing the likelihood of its own extinction. Set against a backdrop of London torn apart by violence and warring nationalistic sects, "Children of Men" follows an unlikely champion of Earth's survival: Theo (Owen), a disillusioned ex-activist turned bureaucrat, who is forced to face his own demons and protect the planet's last remaining hope."

The movie sounds like a good idea but they played an extended trailer for it before Miami Vice and I think that there are going to be way too many weepy scenes to make it worthwhile.

Yes, I see what you guys mean by weepy. But I like the mob scenes and the dark contrasts between living daily life (taking the bus, buying a coffee) with the violence and destruction. I wonder if that's what Bagdad is like.

The book sounds like it's right up my alley. And i've heard that P.D. James is quite entertaining.
