2007 Wrap-up and 2008 look ahead

15 books read this past year. Pretty pathetic but I feel as though I have been reading as much as I have in a 50 book year. 2007 for me had a greater focus on reading contemporary news, internet and magazine information more than anything and for that my novel and non-fiction book numbers suffered. I think, too, sometimes one just has to take a break from the novel; read other things.

However, for 2008 I have some new goals, some new strategies and a new look Mount Benson Report to look forward to. This year I hope to make a strong inroad into some of the seminal early science fiction of the 50's and 60's. I have been collecting many of these books for some time now and have come to realize that these are becoming forgotten stories of their time. The physical books, now over 50 years old, are deteriorating and the vast majority of them are not being reprinted.

I hope you will stay with the Report in 2008.

Love the new look! Congrats on a solid 2007. Yes, output was down, but quality was up and you never left us hanging for too long.

I'm looking forward to your sci-fi survey for '08!

agreed. keep the reviews coming. I have been looking for some of your reviewed books. And I always enjoy your prose, too.

Never really thought about it that way! Good point. I should get on this as well.
